Glaser Celebrates 30 Years at FBK

06/28/2022

Ellsworth, KS — A passion for agriculture and finance was the spark needed for Curt Glaser, Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer at First Bank Kansas, to start his career in banking 36 years ago. He says that he knew early on that he wanted to be an Ag Banker and he has done just that at First Bank Kansas for the past 30 years.

Admittedly, his first paid job was not in finance, but as a paper boy delivering newspapers. This job allowed him the money to purchase his first horse and his lambs for his 4-H project which was his first foray in agriculture. Glaser attended Kansas State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. His banking career began in Hiawatha, Kansas, where he worked as an ag loan officer for Farm Credit during the 1980s Ag crisis. He later joined McPherson Bank & Trust in McPherson as an Ag Banker. Glaser can now be found at First Bank Kansas in Ellsworth, Kansas, where he has been helping people get financing for their farms, ranches and businesses since 1992.

Glaser’s experience and education in agriculture make him a unique lender that can relate to customers. First Bank Kansas President and Chief Executive Officer Kent Buer described Glaser as “very smart and creative” and “a champion for minimalizing minutia that may get in the way of maximizing the experience for our valued customers.” Buer elaborated that “Curt is known for saying ‘look for ways to say yes’ and his knowledge and experience in real estate, small business and agriculture lending help to set us apart from the competition.”

When asked what has changed the most in banking during his career, Glaser explained it was the internet. “Computerization and all that it has brought to banking, including online banking, mobile banking, imaging of bank statements and credit files for customers was a big change,” he said. Through all those changes, Glaser noted that “the best part of banking is the relationships with customers.”

In his free time, Glaser enjoys spending time with his family on his farm where he works with livestock and horses. His passion for agriculture is present in all his hobbies.
